Sidewalk Sam is a Boston-area icon who recently came to an annual event, Bedford Day, in Mindy's town, Bedford, Mass., to encourage residents to create art. Mindy and her husband, Steve, enjoyed speaking with Sidewalk Sam not only about his wonderful art projects, but about his warm and engaging way with people. Steve took this photo of Mindy and Sidewalk Sam.

I write about cocker spaniels in most of my books. If you have never had one, you don't know what you're missing! Here is the Cocker Spaniel Rescue of New England that would love you to adopt one! Says Oprah Winfrey about her two cockers, Sophie and Solomon: "What dogs?! These are my children, little people with fur who make my heart open a little wider." I agree!

I once did an article on Boothbay Harbor, Maine, during the off-season. Well, off-season, or on, I recommend this charming inn, Linekin Bay Bed & Breakfast, which says on its website my "famous" words: The Boston Globe newspaper says that Linekin Bay B&B has the feel of home away from home and a spectacular view of Linekin Bay."
